With the latest album preview from Dave Matthews Band, I'm Dana Ward at Clevver TV.
'Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King' is the first LP from the group since 2005's 'Stand Up'. This is a big debut for the band, especially after dealing with the loss of founding member, LeRoi Moore. DMB was sure to include pieces recorded by Moore before his 2008 death due to accident complications. In fact, other members have been quoted as saying they scoured the studio harddrives to find any of Moore's saxaphone work, noting that it's been a difficult recording process without the entire group. Several album inspirations include the natural progression and growing-up of the band - plus, producer Rob Cavallo - who's worked with Green Day and My Chemical Romance - as well as the desire to merge the powerful live performance that DMB is known for into a recorded studio album. It's set for a June 2nd release date.
The first single is titled 'Funny How It Is', showcasing some vintage Dave sounds. It's described as having a whistful vocal melody soaring above a challenging guitar riff and busy drum beat, also rocking a violin break and an electric guitar solo.
The official Dave Matthews Band tour kicked off at Madison Square Garden in mid-April, all-set to go with the new tracks from 'Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King'.
